The KC Chapter met on Saturday, March 8 in room 4050 Wescoe at the KU
Medical Center with 19 in attendance. Present were Bob & Sharon Schoonover,
Lamar Hetherington, Brad & Debbie Yates, Stephen Jefvert, Jerry Niebaum, Dr.
Jason Springer, Maria Nordstrom, Joyce Kullman, Arlene & Glenn Kullman,
Denny & Ruth Hale, Brandi, Sandy, and Alicia Fischer, Laura & Bob
Lafferty.
Dr. Springer gave an update on establishing a vasculitis clinic at KUMC.
Vasculitis patients now have specific time slots set aside for them. They now
have in-office urine sample testing for quicker diagnosis and analysis. He
estimates they have about 50 vasculitis patients so far. The are creating a
weblink through the KU web pages which will list physicians available to help
vasculitis patients and along with other patient resources.
Dr. Springer sought input from those present on ideas for a 1/2 day
symposium on vasculitis possibly on July 12 or July 19. He will check out
facilities at the KU Edwards campus as a possible site. One or more drug
companies may be asked to participate. He will need volunteers from our group to
help with the meeting. Joyce said that the VF web registration services would be
available for this meeting. There was good discussion and enthusiasm for the
symposium.Following that discussion he gave an excellent formal talk about
Prednisone.
Maria Nordstrom described a fund raising event, ‘Rally in the Alley’ to be
held on May 4 at AMF College Lanes, 10201 College Blvd, Overland Park, KS.
