The KC Chapter of the Vasculitis Foundation met in Room 4050 Wescoe at the University of Kansas Medical Center on Saturday, May 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.  Thanks to Arlene K for bringing the chocolates and to Judy & Jerry for the cookies and coffee. Those attending were Arlene & Glenn Kullman, Joyce Kullman, Bob & Sharon Schoonover, Jerry & Judy Niebaum, Dr. Jason Springer, Sondra Schmidt, and newcomers Teresa Reyes and Jude Devonshire.

Joyce talked about the fund raiser, 'Rally in the Alley' held on May 4 at the AMF lanes in Overland Park. It was a big success measured in a number of ways. All 20 bowling lanes were sponsored and we had at least 80 bowlers and many onlookers. Slightly more than $7,000 was raised for vasculitis research and education. A big THANK YOU goes to event organizers Maria Nordstrom and Deana Merryman.

Dr. Springer asked the group to help formulate questions to help guide presenters at the Vasculitis Symposium to be held at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park on the afternoon of Saturday, July 12, 2014. A lively discussion followed and numerous questions were created. He will share those with the presenters. Schedule and additional information and registration for the Symposium is at:
http://www.vasculitisfoundation.org/education/conferences . The Symposium fee is $15 per person.
The registration form is also linked from '2014 Symposium' in the column to the right.

Dr. Springer gave a slide presentation on vasculitis drugs: Cytoxan, Methotrexate, and Imuran, including their effects and side effects. This was a follow-on to his presentation on Prednisone at our last meeting in March. He suggests the following helpful link:

Attendees then shared their vasculitis status and treatment regimens.

Our next regular chapter meeting will be Saturday, October 4 in Best Hall Room 125 at the Edwards Campus of the University of Kansas in Overland Park.
